Privacy Policy

This is what we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. No lawyer-speak where plain English works.

Who runs this site

ChalkBags.com. Mail reaches us at 1621 Central Ave #59518, Cheyenne, WY 82001. Use our contact form. A person reads every message.

What we collect

When you place an order. Your name, shipping and billing address, email, phone if you give it, and whatever you typed into a personalization field. We need all of it to make the thing and get it to you.

When you pay. We never see or store your full card number. Payment card details go straight to our payment processor. What comes back to us is the last four digits, the card brand, and whether it worked.

When you sign up for email. Your email address, and which pages or forms you came in through so we do not send you the same thing twice.

When you just visit. Your browser sends an IP address, a browser type, and the page you came from. Standard web server logs. We do not tie those to a name.

Cookies, plainly

A cookie is a small file the site leaves in your browser so it can remember something between clicks.

Right now the only cookies this site sets are the ones the store software needs: keeping items in your cart, keeping you signed in to your account, and remembering that you already dismissed a notice. Turning those off breaks checkout.

We are not running advertising trackers or third-party ad pixels. If we ever add visitor analytics or advertising cookies, this page gets updated before they go live, not after.

Who else touches your data

Only the companies that have to, and only for the part they do:

  • Our payment processor takes the card and tells us it cleared.
  • Shipping carriers get your name and address so a box arrives.
  • Our web host stores the site and its database.
  • Our email service holds your address if you asked for email from us.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not trade it, rent it, or hand it to data brokers. If a law or a valid court order compels us to produce records, we will comply, and we will tell you unless we are legally barred from doing so.

How long we keep it

Order records stay for seven years to satisfy tax and accounting rules. Email subscriptions stay until you unsubscribe. Support conversations stay for two years. Server logs roll off in about 30 days.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what we have on you, correct it, or delete it. Use our contact form and we will answer within 30 days. We will not charge you for asking and we will not treat you worse for having asked.

The one thing we cannot delete on request is a completed order record, because we are required to keep it. Everything else goes.

If you are in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Virginia, or another state with a privacy law, those are your rights under it, including the right to opt out of any sale or sharing of your data. There is nothing to opt out of here, because we do not sell or share it. If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, you also have the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Email you can stop

Every marketing email we send has an unsubscribe link that works on the first click. Order confirmations and shipping notices are not marketing, so those keep coming while an order is open.

Kids

This site is not for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from a child that age. If you think we have, email us and it gets deleted.

Security, without the sales pitch

The site runs over an encrypted connection, card data never lands on our server, and access to the order database is limited to the people who fill orders. No site can promise it will never be breached, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. If a breach exposes your data, we will tell you.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we change the date at the top and, for anything significant, email the people on our list.
